About Mr. Storm
Curtis Storm, tenor, is a regular vocal soloist and collaborative musician throughout the Southwestern United States whose voice was described by the New Mexico Review of the Arts as “sonorous.”
In 2013 Mr. Storm was the featured tenor soloist in a recital by renowned collaborative pianist Robert Spillman. In October 2015, Mr. Storm was the featured tenor soloist for the world premiere of Requiem for Eagles by David Lingle. This work won the American Choral Association’s Alice Parker Award, and was the vehicle for his solo debut with the San Juan Symphony in October, 2017.
Recent seasons have featured his performances in the St. John’s Bach Project Coffee Cantata, Ensemble Music New Mexico’s performance of the Easter Oratorio, and Red Rock String’s performance of Handel’s Messiah. Additionally, he has joined Quintessence: Choral Artists of the Southwest and Polyphony: Voices of New Mexico as a core member and soloist.
In 2019 Mr. Storm appeared in Opera Southwest’s celebrated revival production of Alì Babà covering Thamar. In previous OSW seasons, he had appeared as a core ensemble member in the productions of Guillaume Tell and Norma. Mr. Storm’s 2019 season also included creating the role of Maurice Sterne in the workshop premiere of Nell Shaw Cohen’s Mabel’s Call and as Frederic in The Pirates of Penzance.
His 2020 season included his debut with the New Mexico Philharmonic as tenor soloist for their performance of J.S. Bach’s Christ lag in Todes Banden (Cantata 4), as well as the role of Ferrando in the University of New Mexico Opera Theatre performance of Così fan tutte.
In addition to his work as a professional tenor, Mr. Storm also has over 10 years of experience teaching music and directing various vocal ensembles.
